The intragastric balloon is a revolutionary silicone balloon that is inserted into your stomach through your mouth and esophagus during a short outpatient procedure and is performed under sedation. It is soft and does not damage the mucous membrane of the stomach, and is implanted using an endoscopic probe (camera). It is used as an alternative for the treatment of moderate, moderate to severe obesity, with appropriate psychological support, a prescribed diet and a program for physical activity, as well as constant supervision by a doctor.
It is a clinically accepted weight loss tool approved by the US Department of Health, which confirms its safety. It has been successfully used around the world for the past 30 years.
Taking into account the world standards and guidelines for reducing body weight and establishing new and healthier eating habits, the "Obesity Team" of Plave Medical Group strongly suggests that better results (significantly higher efficiency) are achieved by combining the intragastric balloon with psychological counseling (clinical psychologist ), and with the support of a nutritionist and an exercise program.
An intragastric balloon is placed in your stomach, occupying approximately one third of the stomach volume. It helps you lose weight by causing a feeling of satiety. It achieves this in two ways:

Balloon insertion is a 20-minute procedure performed under short-term general anesthesia in the gastrointestinal endoscopy suite.
The procedure is completely painless and comfortable. Since there are no surgical incisions during placement, the recovery is minimal and refers to monitoring the patient several hours after waking up from anesthesia.
You can expect to stay for 4-5 hours including preparation, procedure and recovery. After 4 to 6 months, the Lex-Bal balloon is removed through the mouth in a similar manner to how it was placed.
